The Nukes Only News Report: Issue #17
April 3, 2025
Hello and welcome back to the Nukes Only News Report!
This week, we’ve got:
✅ A first-time PGA Tour winner making waves
✅ Rising college stars teeing it up against the pros
✅ A wild finish for a famous name at the collegiate level
Oh, and by the way… The Masters is NEXT WEEK. We’re pumped.
Let’s dive in:
The Rundown

Min Woo Lee hoists the trophy at Memorial Park in Houston
(via ESPN)
It was only a matter of time.
After holding off World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and a resurgent Gary Woodland, Min Woo Lee locked down his first PGA Tour victory in Houston, setting a tournament record in the process—by four shots.
The 26-year-old Australian had everything working all week:
💥 Elite distance off the tee
💥 Dialed-in irons & putting when it mattered most
💥 Composed under pressure to seal the deal
Next stop: Augusta National - and given his upside, he could make some serious noise at The Masters. 👀

Ben James is in the field this week after winning the Valero Collegiate last September
(via Golfweek)
After winning the Valero Texas Collegiate last September, UVA junior Ben James returns to San Antonio this week - this time on a PGA Tour stage.
James has been a serious force in the college game, and it feels like just a matter of time before he flashes his potential at the pro level.
Joining him in the field? ASU’s Preston Summerhays, another rising star who’s knocking on the door.
Keep an eye on both as they take on some of the best in the world.

John Daly II closed in epic fashion to win his first college tournament this week
(via Golf Digest)
🚨 Talk about a comeback.
Arkansas redshirt junior John Daly II locked up his first collegiate win in absolutely insane fashion.
After an even-par morning round, Daly was five over with five holes to play. That’s when he caught absolute fire:
🔥 2-3-3-3-3 finish
🔥 Six-under in his final five holes
🔥 One-shot victory at the Columbia Spring Invitational
With his game trending in the right direction, let’s see if Daly can keep the momentum rolling.
Player Spotlight

Ryan Gerard has been on an absolute tear to open his first full campaign on tour
Ryan Gerard Just Can’t Stop Rolling
After regaining full PGA Tour status this year, Ryan Gerard has been on an absolute tear.
📈 8 of 9 cuts made
📈 4 top-25 finishes
📈 Solo 9th last week in Houston
The UNC alum just keeps climbing the leaderboard, and we wouldn’t be shocked if he tops that very soon.
Quote of the Week
"We all know once you break through for him sky's the limit, so really happy for him.”
That’s it for this week!
🚨 Augusta is next. We’re fired up for The Masters and the first (truly) full field event of 2025.
📢 Stay tuned for our full Masters preview, both here and on our Instagram!
Until then - enjoy the Valero and we’ll see you next week.
