The Nukes Only News Report: Issue #13
February 27, 2025
Welcome back to a special edition of the Nukes Only News Report!
This week, we’re diving into a loaded recap of last week’s Mexico Open - which featured a ton of young talent and an electric finish. Plus, we’ll touch on what to watch in the weeks ahead.
Let’s get into it.
The Rundown

Blades Brown made his first professional cut over the weekend in Mexico
Brian Campbell Breaks Through
First and foremost - a massive shoutout to Brian Campbell on earning his first-ever PGA Tour win.
We love an underdog story, and seeing someone who’s battled through the grind secure a life-changing victory? Just awesome.
See you at Augusta, Brian - and major props to Illinois for continuing to churn out rock-solid pros from their program.
Blades Brown Keeps Gaining Experience
Blades Brown caught our attention at The Amex, where he racked up birdies but narrowly missed the cut. This week was different.
He came out firing on Thursday before needing to grind his way inside the cut line on Friday. A clutch par save on 17 and a birdie on 18 locked up a weekend tee time - an invaluable experience for this rising star.
We’ll be seeing a lot more of Blades soon.

Aldrich Potgieter bombed away en route to a course-record 61 on Friday
Aldrich Potgieter Is a Problem
The biggest story (and biggest ball speed) of the week? Aldrich Potgieter.
The 19-year-old South African fired a ridiculous 61 on Friday to take the 54-hole lead - before coming just short in a sudden-death playoff.
Aldrich is still just a few weeks into his PGA Tour career, but it’s already clear - it’s not a matter of if he’ll win, but when.
Expect to see Potgieter in the winner’s circle real soon.

Isaiah Salinda looks like a breakout star in the making so far this year
Isaiah Salinda is Making His Move
Hot on Potgieter’s tail Sunday was Isaiah Salinda - the former Stanford standout & All-American - who fired a bogey-free 65 to make things interesting down the stretch.
His comeback bid fell just short, but this performance went a long way in earning him spots in upcoming elite events like The Players & the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Don’t be surprised if Salinda keeps making the most of his opportunities.

Justin Hastings finished T-13 in just his second ever PGA start
Two current college seniors also turned heads in Mexico:
Justin Hastings & Josele Ballester both finished inside the top 20 after standout performances on Saturday & Sunday.
Ballester earned his spot after winning the U.S. Amateur, while Hastings punched his ticket by winning the Latin America Amateur.
Now, they’re both headed for the ultimate stage - as they’ll be teeing it up at Augusta National in April.

Josele Ballester had one of the rounds of the day Sunday with a 6-under 65
Player Spotlight: Luke Clanton Keeps Winning

Luke Clanton needs this many more points to lock up his Tour Card this weekend
Well, what do you know? Another huge week for Luke Clanton.
âś… Wins his first college tournament back
âś… FSU wins the team title
âś… Signs a deal with Nike
âś… Teeing it up at the Cognizant Classic this week
Oh, and if he makes the cut, he’ll have locked up his PGA Tour card.
Go on, young man - you deserve it.
Quote of the Week
"I took Spanish four years in high school, so I'm really happy I chose that over Latin. I'm having so much fun here at the resort and I can't wait for the next two days."
That’s it for this week!
