The Nukes Only News Report: Issue #16

March 26, 2025

We are back! Thanks for your patience while we sorted out some technical difficulties last week.

This time around, we’ve got:
āœ… A first pro win in a while
āœ… A first collegiate win ever
āœ… A junior phenom who refuses to lose

We hope you enjoy this one before we try out some new formats in the coming weeks.

Let’s dive in…

The Rundown

Viktor Hovland hit some ā€˜disgusting’ shots en route to victory at the Valspar

(via Golf.com)

After a bizarre start to the season - featuring a random broken toe and a string of missed cuts - Viktor Hovland bounced back in a big way on Sunday, outdueling Justin Thomas to win the Valspar Championship.

Hovland had everything working, battling through:
āœ… A swing that hasn’t been fully cooperating
āœ… The wrong side of a brutal weather draw
āœ… A tough track at Innisbrook

So, with major season fast approaching… is Vik rounding into form just in time?

We’re about to find out. šŸ‘€

🚨 Stop us if you’ve heard this before - but Miles Russell won again.

The 16-year-old sensation from Jacksonville Beach, Florida, captured the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley this past Saturday, marking his fourth straight win against junior competition.

Russell started the final round well behind Joshua Bai, but battled both Bai and Jackson Byrd down the stretch to pull off yet another clutch victory.

His dominance is undeniable:
šŸ”„ Hasn’t finished outside the top 10 in a non-pro event since last summer
šŸ”„ Keeps piling up wins against elite junior fields
šŸ”„ Now has a real shot at becoming the youngest Walker Cup player ever at Cypress Point

Our bet? He makes history.

Luke Poulter breaks through for his first win post back injury for the Gators

(via Golfweek)

After missing seven months due to a back injury, Florida sophomore Luke Poulter is starting to find his groove.

The son of Ian Poulter, Luke broke through this past Sunday, winning the Schenkel Invitational by one shot over teammate Ian Gilligan.

šŸ† Final scorecard: 67-69-72 (-8) at Forest Heights CC in Georgia.

With Poulter hitting his stride and Joshua Bai leading the charge at the Junior Invitational, the Gators’ pipeline looks stronger than ever.

Florida’s golf program is going to be a force. šŸš€

Player Spotlight

Charlie Reiter - big arms, even bigger ball speed.

Charlie Reiter Monday Qualifies for Houston Open

After a rocky start to 2024, Charlie Reiter took down a 4-for-1 playoff to Monday qualify for this week’s Texas Children’s Houston Open.

Why should you keep an eye on him?

The track favors his game - wide open, soft conditions, and an extra-long setup. Reiter should outrun even this field in carry distance and could have a serious edge.

With one big week, everything could change for Reiter.

Monday Q’s. Gotta love ā€˜em.

Follower Swing of the Week

Scarlett Schremmer Continues Her Climb

Scarlett Schremmer, a senior from Birmingham, AL, just posted a solo 5th finish at the Junior Invitational - a huge statement as she continues her rapid rise up the WAGR.

One of the top players in the Class of 2025, the Texas A&M commit is primed for a massive summer.

Expect her name to pop up a lot more moving forward.

That’s It for This Week!

Stay tuned - as we’ve got some fun throwbacks in the works, plus some new content formats coming soon.

šŸ’„ Best of luck to everyone teeing it up this weekend. Let’s take it low.
