The Nukes Only News Report: Issue #3
December 3, 2024
Hello and welcome back to the Nukes Only News Report!
We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and didn’t overdo it on the stuffing and potatoes. In this edition, we’re spotlighting two young ballers already making waves at the professional level—and a host of others who are gearing up to follow in their footsteps.
Back to the grind—let’s dive in:
The Rundown

Ryggs Johnston takes home the hardware at the Australian Open
(via The Guardian)
Arizona State alum Ryggs Johnston shocked the field last week, taking home the victory at the ISPS HANDA Australian Open in just his second DP World Tour start.
After grinding through Q-School and finishing inside the top 50 in his debut event, Johnston fired a clutch 4-under 68 on Sunday to hold off Lucas Herbert and secure his first four-round tournament victory since high school.
With a solid team supporting him and a ton of momentum, the former Sun Devil—dubbed “The Big Slick”—is definitely one to watch going forward.

Neal Shipley needs a strong showing to secure PGA status for 2025

Fresh off three top-20 finishes since turning pro in June, Neal Shipley is headed to Valdosta, Georgia, to compete in the second stage of Q-School this week.
The low amateur at both Pinehurst and Augusta this year, Shipley will need a strong showing to secure full-time PGA Tour status for 2025. Joining him in the hunt for a card are notables like Chase Sienkiewicz, Canon Claycomb, Bryce Lewis, Cole Sherwood, Ben Lorenz, and Dylan Menante.
The final stage of Q-School is set for Dec. 12–15 at TPC Sawgrass (Dye’s Valley) and Sawgrass Country Club (East/West). The top five finishers and ties will earn PGA Tour cards, while others will secure various levels of KFT status.
