The Rundown

Jackson Koivun is just two points away from a PGA Tour card after this past weekend

Another week, another PGA Tour record falls at the hands of two of the game’s brightest young stars. Jackson Koivun and Luke Clanton battled through brutal conditions on Friday to make the cut at Torrey Pines—marking the first time in 55 years that two amateurs have made the weekend at this event in the same year.

Even bigger? Both are now just two Accelerated Points away from earning their PGA Tour cards, joining fellow college standout Gordon Sargent in fast-tracking their way to the big leagues.

Last Thursday, the U.S. National Development Program (USNDP) unveiled its 2025 rosters, including the U.S. National Junior Team and the newly launched Elite Amateur Program.

Now in its second year, the USNDP was created to identify, train, and support the country’s most promising young golfers, regardless of background. The 2025 Junior Team features 22 players (11 boys, 11 girls), with 14 returners and eight newcomers.

The new Elite Amateur Program takes things a step further, working alongside college programs to provide additional support for top players during their collegiate years. This marks the second of three planned USNDP teams, with a Young Professional Team set to debut in 2026.

With this structure in place, the U.S. is building a true pipeline for future stars. Keep an eye on these names—you’ll be hearing them a lot in the years to come.

Ricky Castillo makes his mark in tough conditions at the Farmers

After missing the cut in his first start as a full-time PGA Tour member, Ricky Castillo bounced back strong—making the cut at The Amex and then finishing T15 at The Farmers in tough conditions.

The former Florida Gator is an absolute flusher, and with his ball-striking, expect to see him on more leaderboards soon. Keep an eye on him as the season rolls on.
