The Nukes Only News Report: Issue #15
March 13, 2025
Welcome back to The Nukes Only News Report!
This week, we’ve got rising stars breaking through at every level - from the PGA Tour to the college ranks. Plus, we’re looking ahead to The Players Championship, where golf’s fifth major will showcase some familiar faces for those of you keeping up…
Let’s dive in.
The Rundown

Karl Vilips wins in just his fourth PGA start in Puerto Rico
(via Golf.com)
After a strong finish to his college career and blitzing the Korn Ferry Tour en route to Rookie of the Year honors, Karl Vilips’ PGA career got off to a slow start due to injury.
That all changed in a big way this past Sunday, as the former Stanford Cardinal fired a final-round 64 to lock up a 3-shot victory in just his fourth career PGA Tour start.
The win earns him a spot in this week’s Players Championship, which will be a home game of sorts for the young Aussie.
Oh, and as if the week couldn’t get better—he even got a voicemail shoutout from Sun Day Red boss Tiger Woods himself.
🚀 Not a bad week at all for Vilips.

Jackson Koivun could soon be joining Luke Clanton on Tour next year
(via Golfweek)
One week after Luke Clanton locked up his PGA Tour card while still in college, Auburn sophomore Jackson Koivun is knocking on the door right behind him.
On Friday at Bay Hill, Koivun birdied the 18th to post a second consecutive 72, bringing his total to 19 Accelerated Points—just one shy of securing his Tour card.
For now, Koivun will return to a stacked Auburn squad as he gears up for a National Championship run this spring.
Something tells us it won’t be long before he joins Clanton in the big leagues.

Michael Riebe will headline an absolutely reloaded recruiting class for Vandy this year

Logan McAllister captured his first Korn Ferry Tour title on Sunday at the Astara Chile Classic, finishing 19-under 265 for a one-shot win over fellow young gun Davis Chatfield.
His final-round 64 included eight birdies—a statement performance from the Oklahoma native.
A former standout at Oklahoma, McAllister first earned Korn Ferry Tour membership in 2022 but has faced a few bumps along the way. With this win, he locks up full Korn Ferry Tour status through 2026 and puts himself one step closer to joining former college teammates Chris Gotterup & Quade Cummins on the PGA Tour.

Luke Potter claimed his first individual title after transferring to Texas
Luke Potter & Texas Take The Hayt
The Texas Men’s Golf team came up clutch on Monday, firing a final-round 6-under 282 to rally for a seven-stroke victory at The Hayt at Sawgrass Country Club.
Leading the way? Junior Luke Potter, who shot a 3-under 69 to claim his first career collegiate individual win.
Potter started the day three strokes back but delivered when it mattered most, posting a 10-under 206 (71-66-69) to win by three shots over David Ford (UNC).
Don’t be surprised if Potter and this loaded Longhorns squad rack up more hardware before the season’s over.
Quote of the Week
"I try not to think about it too much, just kind of let it happen. I know good golf takes care of itself.”
